Helicopter Spins Out of Control into Palm Fronds at Popular Southern California Coast
An aircraft flying above a well-attended coastal shoreline suddenly started spinning wildly, ultimately losing altitude and plunging into a row of palm fronds as spectators looked on.
Footage uploaded online depict the helicopter starting to spin above Huntington Beach then descending in the direction of the perimeter of the shore, where it gets stuck between palms and a staircase near the Pacific Coast highway.
Emergency Response Information
Local firefighters said five persons were rushed to the hospital including two who were in the aircraft and were “extracted safely from the crash site” subsequent to the accident on the weekend.
Three persons on the pavement were harmed. Specifics on their condition were not immediately available.
What led to the incident was not yet disclosed.
